Conquer the world through ENGLISHPewartaan Iman Allah kini Merambah Dunia Maya

Sering terdengar kini bahwa generasi sekarang adalah Generasi Y, yaitu generasi yang tidak bisa lagi lepas dengan dunia gadget, hal yang berhubungan dengan internet dan teknologi (WEB) blog. Kini banyak orang berlomba-lomba membuat inovasi baru melalui dunia maya. Tak ketinggalan salah satu gereja paroki di kota Surakarta meluncurkan website guna meningkatan pelayanan dan memperluas “karya Allah” di dunia. Sebut saja Gereja Katolik Santa Perawan Maria Regina Purbowardayan, beberapa waktu lalu meluncurkan web resminya yang beralamatkan di http://spmregina.org/ . walaupun pada intinya web ini belum lengkap (menurut saya), paling tidak dari pihak gereja, dewan paroki dan terutama kaum Muda katolik memiliki tujuan mulai terutama dengan peluncuruan web ini.
Sering kita katahui, bahwa internet (dunia maya) membawa dampak buruk bagi masyarakat, terlebih generasi muda kita yang kini tidak memiliki ,ketahanan mental dan mudah terpengaruh dengan arus zaman yang makin tidak menentu, betapa tidak banyak sekali situs web yang tidak baik dan situs yang merusak mental manusia mewabah dan bahkan menjamur. Orang dengan mudah terpengaruh dengan tawaran-tawaran duniawi yang begitu menggiurkan yang ada di layar komputer ketika mereka mengakses dunia maya seperti di warnet (warung internet). Yah… di dunia maya seperti layanan intenet, memang menawarkan segalanya mulail dari pendidikan, hiburan, bisnis sampai hal-hal yang bisa menjebak kita ke arah dimana kita bisa jauh dari iman kita sendiri sebagai orang katholik.
Solusi membuat web dengan profil gereja paroki seperti yang telah di rintis oleh Gereja Santa Perawan Maria Regina, Purbowardayan merupakan salah satu cara yang cukup menarik untuk dapat kita tiru. Selain ini adalaha salah satu usaha kita untuk semakin memperkuat iman kita sebagai warga gerja di paroki namun juga mampu memperluas pewartaan iman Allah dan kabar baikNya kepada seluruh umat yang haus akan tetesan sabda dan firman Allah sendiri. Bagi kita, warga gereja paroki, hal ini makin menambah pengetahuan kita tentang gereka kita sendiri, mulai dari pejalanan sejarah berdirinya gereja kita (yang mungkin akan hancur dimakan oleh jamur dan usia, jika hanya di dokumentasikan melalui gambar dan catatan-catatan tua), sharing iman dan renungan, jadwal kegiatan gereja paroki hingga profil serta visi misi setiap wilayah yang tergabung di dalamnya. Mengapa kita tidak mencoba mulai beusaha dengan mencontoh apa yang telah Gereja Paroki Santa Perawan Maria Regina Purbowardayan? Hal yang begitu menarik dan saya yakin banyak Kaum muda yang menyukainya. Kini banyak muncul profil iman Kristiani mulai marambah di sunia maya seperti web milik Jesuit www.sacredspace.ie yang menawarkan layanan doa dan renungan setipa hari.
Ketika pewartaan Iman Allah merambah hingga dunia Maya…..
Ketika iman kita mangalahkan intelektualitas kita, maka pasti ada jalan untuk kita mewartakan karya KeselamatanNya dengan banyak cara hingga dunia Mayapun menjadi MilikNya…..

Teaching Pearl Words
I collect these teaching pearl words in order to inspire me more and more in designing teaching methods and for all of you, especially teachers who needs ” supports” in conducting this “special” duty as educators and trainers :
1. Teachers do make a different. ( Teaching Workshop, March 31st 2009 by Sanne van Egmond, English Language Education Study Program, Sanata Dharma University)
2. Anything that is learned must be actively taught. ( Hillocks, 1999 and Vygotsky)
3. When you assign a task and the students successfully complete it, they could already do it. They have been taught nothing. ( Lev Vygotsky)
4. Learning always proceeds from the know to the new. Good teaching will recognize and build on this connection. ( Lev Vygotsky)
5. Students have a need to develop and exhibit competence. Teachers must assist them to develop competence as they engaged in challenging task in which they can be successful. (Lev Vygotsky)
6. A meaningful learning context is crucial. Learning is purposeful and situated. (Brown, Collins, DuGuid : 1989)
7. Learners can only begin to learn within their individual Zone of Proximal Development, current interests and presents state of being. But humane teaching can develop new interests, new ways of doing things and new states of being. (Lev Vygotsky)

Guru and “teacher” ; is that any different?
I thought that it is going to be so hard doing the job as a teacher. It is easier to state that criteria as a good teacher but to make it realize as a real teacher, it needs a lot of preparation and training, and the most important thing is it needs like “a call” (panggilan hidup). In my opinion the word “ Teacher” is different with “Guru”, teacher comes from the word teach (v) which means to tell or show (someone) how to do something and to give instruction or lesson or subject to cause to learn, and the most surprising is that to warn or punish someone in order to teach someone a lesson. While “Guru” comes from Sanskrit language which deeply means “something hard” the job is not only to teach the students but also to educate the students to be well educated, to guidance and orient to be a better person in the environment, to train so that the students an have a certain skill, life skill, to tell which is right to do and which is wrong to not to as a human being perspective and the last, teach and evaluate the students.
In certain meaning, Guru means something more than being a teacher; Guru means a very secret place, which contains knowledge and spiritual guidance. Another is that teacher is a symbol of the way to the goodness. There is a proverb in Bahasa Indonesia stated “Guru kencing berdiri, murid kencing berlari” which means students usually intimate what the teacher (guru) does, so it is better for every teacher to be careful in giving the example, especially their behavior, attitude and thoughts.
So after stating all of those statement about Guru (teacher), I think it is going to be hard work for me as a teacher candidate, moreover knowing the present situation where many students do not have any politeness to their parents (sorry to say that, there is a phrase I knew in the newspaper “Fucking Parental Advisory”), so how about their attitude towards their teacher (Guru)????? It is not about the knowledge but about how teachers can produce”good” students balanced between the intelligence of knowledge and the social behavior maturity.
Big Question needs to be answered by all the teachers (Guru) candidate….
Developing Students’ Critical Thinking (1) Mind Mapping, Scaffolding Strategy and Students’ Critical Thinking Skill
Mind Mapping is a popular brainstorming tool in learning techniques of visually arranging ideas in their interconnections. It can be used to graphically arrange the linkages of some central concepts or issue with other concepts or issues into memorable treelike diagram. It allows students to create, capture, organized and communicate readily understood and highly interactive visual representation of complex ideas, information, and data.
A mind map always starts from some problem or issues which is positioned in the center, typically it contains word, short phrases and pictures which are connected to the central issues by line.
Mind mapping strategy itself is under the Scaffolding Strategy, by Jerome Bruner, in 1950s , which is based in the teacher’s temporary support to the students interest in learning. In this case, teachers just focus on the students’ interest to learn. There is a freedom in choosing the topic, in order to make an independent learning and taking ownership of the task.
Mind mapping as the narrowed down theory of Scaffolding is aimed to make independent learning of the students. In this case teachers gives clear explanation and instruction to students what to do. Usually students can choose the topic by themselves as their interest.
Scaffolding in the form of Mind Mapping theory can help students to understand and comprehend more about an issues or
concepts, while teachers as facilitators to help students in finding their own way to develop their ability.
The relation of Scaffolding in the form of Mind Mapping theory to the Development of Students’ Critical Thinking is more in to the activities in the classroom, where, students with higher level in mastering the material can help students who are struggling to understand the materials in a group, in which students listen with high awareness to other students opinion bout certain topic of a reading passage for instance.

LOVE STORY
The sounds of music inside the hall were clear enough to be heard from the beach. A big party was held, but Chrystal was having no interest to join it. She still wanted to be alone, just by herself. She preferred walking towards the beach after the sun sets. Chrystal gazed out over the sea when the day was getting dark, feeling the faint wind breeze against her face; her eyes shut the warm white sand between her toes, it was still beyond believe that she was still unable to ease the grief she felt as she had love and pain in the same time. There, in the same place where she had been last year. The place that became the silent witness of the love story ended in tragic way. The place where all the hopes were banishes. 1 year ago, still clear in her memory, that Lozano asked her to marry him after passing 3 years in relation, knowing and understanding one each other. She found him as a man who could make her happy. Someone she deeply loved whom she wanted to spend her rest life with forever. But, when all the wedding preparation was almost done, something out of Crystal’s mind happened. A strange woman came and ready to banish all the dreams and hopes. The biggest grief that when suddenly Chrystal had Lozano’s child in her body, the baby could not stay longer anymore in its mother’s body, as if it could feel what its mother feeling. Chrystal lost her baby before she could hug him.
The wedding day came; Chrystal was in a beautiful white wedding gown, being ready to say “I do”. Unfortunately, Lozano never came to the wedding Chrytal could not take her tears any longer. She let them roll down in her flawless cheeks. That night, in the same place, again Chrystal remembered her painful destiny of being loved and the love that never be unpaid from the man named Lozano.
There at the same time, a man standing behind her could not take his eyes from the brown-blonde woman. A man who was long deeply in love with Chrystal. They had known each other actually, as friends of course. It was what Chrytal thought about that man who stood behind her. But, some strange feeling had grown in very long time in that man’s heart. It had been 6 years, even before Chrystal met Lozano, and exactly the first time Santiago, the man, had fallen in love to Chrystal. Santiago approached Chrystal and asked her to leave the party soon, because he knew that she felt uncomfortable in the party. They were in very short conversation and finally decide to leave that place. Chrystal agreed to leave for Italy as Santiago suggested, to get some new fresh air and having a holiday. Deep in her heart, Chrystal could forget all the worst things happened in her life and of course, to erase a name, Lozano, forever.
Italy, here I come…
Santiago and Chrystal finally were in Italy, both of them stay in Santiago’s sister’s house, Liz Maria. There, Chrystal felt cheerful again. Santiago finally could see the fabulous smile from the woman she loved much. In their holiday, Santiago was always in Chrystal’s side, by night and day. He never stay away from her or even moved. He never replace Chrystal with other woman. For him, Chrytal was the 1st and the last woman in his life that he really wanted to marry and spend his life with. But, he never got the chance. For, Chrystal, Santiago was like his long-lost brother, someone that could protect her.
But, in one night, Santiago decided to tell the truth about his feeling, telling how much and big his love to Chrystal. In Turin’s restaurant,
“I love you so much” Santiago finally said to Chrystal at that night, “and I promise I never let you down.”
Hearing those words, Chrystal’s tears rolled down beneath her lashes. She was so ashamed. She never knew about the man’s feeling, which had been proved by the day she passed with, in their holiday.
“Have you trusted in Love?” Chrytal asked him back. “I do not trust it anymore.”
“Well, I do not know. But, would you promise me to believe, if I believe?” Santiago answered her back that made Chrystal started to doubt it. It was just Chrytal wanted to hide her feelings, but it was too late, Santiago could catch it easily.
“ But, Sant… I’m not a perfect women as you want…”
Chrystal still tried to deny her feelings.
“I don’t care. I love you as the way you are…”
Santiago tried harder to convince Chrystal that his love was true. He took a big attention look through her eyes strongly and Chrystal could hold on anymore. She cried, but she was happy inside of the crying.
I finally found someone….
Since the night, Chrystal make sure to herself that she really want to accept Santiago as her love. She thanked that there was still another man who loved her as they way she was. A man who was the real man that shoe could have ever loved again. A man who can heal the pain. She could feel the real love of him, being saved and a real friend, as her future partner of life. By the time went, Chrystal and Santiago were ready and sure to step up to the higher level in relationship, marriage. They planned to celebrate it in Spain, Chrystal’s home country. Everything was so different than in last few years when Chrystal planned her marriage with Lozano. Something different. She was happier than ever she felt a happy feeling.
Ready to say I do…
The wedding day came; Chrystal was so happy. It could be seen from her eyes were as bright as the sun. Her mouth never stopped smiling to everyone. She wore a very beautiful wedding gown. As she walked through the altar, all eyes in Toledo’s church stared at her; even Santiago never stopped looking at his beautiful bride. In front of the priest, the swore in marriage life. No one could separate their love even the death, except God all the guests felt in touch. Some of them cried of happiness. Finally, Chrystal’s biggest dream to say I do in front of God was accomplished and so was Santiago.

The wedding mass was over and it was continued with the wedding party. All the guests yelled for their newlyweds. All people laughed and covered with happiness. Suddenly, a strange man came into the party. Ha was in rags, holding a gunshot. He approached the bridegroom. Firstly, both Santiago and Chrystal felt confused of who was the guy in front of them. But, Chrystal finally recognized him. He was Lozano, Chrystal’s old lover. He also was drunk.
“Oh… wedding party! I had ever planned a wedding with … the woman in that white gown. But, why, the groom is not me … but that man …”
Lozano pointed Santiago and Chrystal out with his gunshot and I made all the guest suddenly in silent. Reflect, Chrystal got closer to her husband and Santiago hugged her, in order to protect from the mad man in front of them.
“Hey… you…!!! Get off f my bride! She’s mine.”
Lozano snarled Santiago and tried to fight him. But, quickly, Santiago stepped aside of him.
“She’s not yours. She’s also not mine. She’s hers.”
“Quiet!!! What are you talking about? Are you going to against me? Come on… let’s show off…”
Lozano was ready to fight Santiago with his gunshot.
“No… Santiago… no…”
Chystal ran toward the two man fighting each other. Lozano released his bullet it kill Santiago, but the bullet went in the wrong way. It went to Chrystal’s body. She fell in Santiago’s hugs, bleeding in her chest. All the people around were so panic, watching the bride was bleeding. They could not do anything, being afraid that they would be shot by the crazy man.
Santiago held his wife smoothly.
“What did you do!!!?”
Santiago cried horribly and he was mad to Lozano, who feel down to the earth regretting what he had done. He saw his lover sick and full of blood.
“No! It was him who make it happen…” the sound of Lozano’s heart was so strong blaming Santiago who had made Chrystal fell down.
Lozano mocked Santiago and started to use his gunshot to banish him, too. In a very short time, another sound of gunshot was heard again. Lozano suddenly shot Santiago. But, Santiago felt so happy of being killed by Lozano, because he took Chrystal’s hand. And they died together in their eternal wedding day. The last word both of them said, “… even the death could not separate us… I love you…”
The day which became the happy day was changed into a grieving day. The newlyweds were buried together. Santiago and Chrystal had made their love perfect in Eden. Death never separated their love. Not long after that, Lozano was under arrest in killing a couple in the wedding party. He had to stay in jail and he had to pay what he had done. Pain was what he felt in his heart. Love made him so foolish and blinded his eyes and finally, he killed himself. The police officer find him hung his head in the jail.

developing students’ critical thinking
this research I make not only for the accomplishment for RELT class, but also I plan to continue it for my Thesis.
critical thinking itself, I got from my previous lecturer, Mr. Markus Budirahajo, S.Pd., M.Ed., he is in Chicago finishing his doctoral degree. he taught me in Extensive Reading 1 one an half year ago. I was really interested in his teaching method using Mind mapping in analyzing a reading passage especially for certain hard topic in which arose many opposed arguments from many people. This critical thinking is very much needed in this case.
There are some consideration for teachers if they want to develop this new term:
critical thinking skill, critical reading, metacognition teaching and metacognitive aspect.
